Letter Of The Day for My Cricut Craftroom

Hello again!
I hope you had the opportunity to visit me on Saturday and see my projects for the October Blog Hop I participated in for My Cricut Craftroom.  If not, when you finish viewing today's project, please go back to the previous post and check them out!
It is Monday and when I post for My Cricut Craftroom on a Monday, we have the choice of doing a project for "Imagination Monday" using the Imagine Machine or we can select to do a project for the "Letter Of The Day".  Since I am not lucky enough to own an Imagine, I of course selected Letter of the Day and today it is the LETTER O.
Since the Presidential Debate was such a hot topic of discussion last week, as I sat down to decide what to make for the Letter O - of course President Obama came to mind!  Cricut Craft Room , the free on line design program offered by Provo Craft/Cricut has a free digital image of both President Obama and candidate Mitt Romney. I needed to send a "care package" off to my daughter in college, who happens to be an Obama supporter, so I thought it was perfect to create a card for her to tuck in her package as well as complete a project for My Cricut Craftroom!
I will start with giving you a quick peek at the card and then I will give you some details on how I created my card.
In the Cricut Craft Room program, I selected the Obama digital image. As I said, Provo Craft is offering this digital image free - I am guessing for a limited time.  Cricut has been offering a free set of images every week for the past several weeks!
I selected the Barack Obama image as well as all the layers for this cut and placed them on my virtual mat in Cricut Craft Room.  It is very similar to designing with my Gypsy, only with a bigger view of the mat.  I then selected to size all the images at 3 inches so they would all cut in proportion to one another.
After cutting the images I layered them together with adhesive.  I used my fine tip Zig Pen to do this.
This is how he looks layered together!
To create my card, I wanted to have a base for him to rest on (after all, he's been
working hard with all the campaign stops!  tee hee hee!)  and I chose to use the Cricut cartridge
Elegant Edges to create that base.  I cut it at 5 inches wide from the image found on page 39 of the Elegant Edges handbook and the used my Cuttlebug to emboss it with my
new Wicker Weave embossing folder that I purchased from Erica's shop.
I adhered the base image to my blue card using foam mounting squares to give some dimension to the card.  I did not get a photo of that step, but here is a close up view of the embossing on the finished card!
I thought it would be fun to have some movement with this card, so I attached Mr. President's image to my card base using an Action Wobble.

I selected a stamp sentiment for the inside of my card and then layered it onto a blue base.
It was then I remembered that we are "going pink" at My Cricut Craftroom for Breast Cancer Awareness Month....so that gave me reason to sneak in a little heart to show my daughter how much I love her and miss her now that she is back at college!
I cut the pink heart from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge at 1/2 inch.
I always stamp my cards with my "signature stamp" and I decided that I would make that stand out a bit more and also add a bit more "pink" to my card in honor of this month.
I used a frame shape from page 62 of the Elegant Edges handbook and sized it to fit with my Gypsy.
Here you can see what great dimension both the foam mounting squares as well as the Action Wobble
give to the card!  Plus, a slight touch of the President's head, and he "wobbles"!
Here are just a couple more views of the finished project!

Thank you so much for visiting today and please head over to My Cricut Craftroom to check out what other Imagine Projects or Letter "O" projects my fellow Design Team Sisters have made for today!
I'd love you to take a moment to leave a comment before you go!
