I hate to see Summer coming to an end, especially since here in my area, we had a cooler than normal summer, especially early in the season.  I guess I feel cheated!
I decided to create this cute little card as a birthday card for my sister in law.
We got to enjoy a beach vacation together earlier this summer so as we say "goodbye" to summer,  I hoped this card would remind her of the fun times we had at the beach!

I used a file from the Silhouette store to cut the flip flops. I decided to use a brad and a little flower instead of the button shape that is included in the cut file.

I inked the edges of the flip flops to make them "pop" a bit more.

I embossed the straps of the flip flops with the Swiss Dot Cuttlebug embossing folder.
How cute is that orange polka dot paper?  It is from the Lucy's Crab Shack collection that is on special in the Cuttin' and Stampin' store!

To create the "sand" I just tore the kraft card stock and then inked the rough edges. I tucked the flip flops in the sand dunes!

I found that I had the perfect sentiment stamp that says "Sole Sisters" and added that to the front of the card.  It is by Pink By Design's "Shop-A-Holic" set.
I'm very close to my sister in law, and she's dealt with an ankle surgery and I've dealt with foot surgery and both of us have had some complications following.  So I thought "Sole Sister's" was a perfect sentiment for us!
For the interior of my card, I added another patterned paper from the Lucy's Crab Shack collection.  I then typed and printed my sentiment and added that to the card as well.

I hope you enjoyed my little project and have fun with the rest of the Hop!

Monochromatic Challenge for the Cuttin' and Stampin' Blog!

#33
Challenge:   Monochromatic
August 20 - 26th, 2013

Hello My Wonderful Crafty Friends!
Today is my Design Team Day for Cuttin and Stampin Challenges.

Our challenge this week - and I DO hope you'll choose to join in and accept the challenge - - is to make a Monochromatic Card!

I am not sure I've ever created one of my very own although I have always admired them!  So I gave it a try!
Let's take a quick look at the card and we'll go into some details!

I decided to make a simple but pretty in pink card!
I layered two different colors of pink cardstock to form the base of my card and added a very thin strip of this perfectly pink ribbion I had in my stash!
 I then free hand cut
rectangles and ran them through my Cuttlebug. I used the Cricut "Swiss Dots" embossing folder for my center piece and A LifeStyle Crafts embossing folder from the set called "Jubliant" for the two side pieces.
I popped those rectangles up on foam squares to give my card some dimension and interest.

After digging around my stamp stash - I found this cute little sentiment stamp that says
" a Little Hello" that fit perfectly on the edge of my card!
The stamp set is an older one by Hampton Art called "footlongs" and the specific stamp set was Hot Fudge Studio - which sounds really yummy but did not have a thing to do with the sentiments in the set!
Here is one last look at my card to inspire you to join in the challenge!
Now please get busy creating and link up to us and you may win a prize!

Square Card Challenge for Design Team Day!

#32
Challenge:   Square Card Challenge 3x3 or 4x4
August 13 - 19th, 2013

Hello Crafty Friends!  It's my Design Team Day for Cuttin' and Stampin' Challenge Blog and
the theme for this week is the "Square Card Challenge".  We were given the choice to start with either a 3 x 3" or a 4 x 4" square base card to create our card.

My Godson and his long time girl friend just got engaged and I am very close friends with

his parents, so I wanted to send not only my Godson and his Fiance' a congratulations on your engagement card, but one also to the parents of the groom.  They are quite excited to be planning a wedding for next August!
Today I'll share with you both cards I created - first the parent's card - which is my 4 x 4 inch card!

Here is the front of the square card.  I found this precious file from the Silhouette America store and just knew it was the one I wanted to use!
Using foam squares to give dimension and an "I Rock" gem as the diamond in the ring case, it is a
simple yet sweet way to send congratuation wishes to the parents of the groom!
Here is the inside of the card:

And a little closer so you can read both sections:

I embossed hearts on a silver metalic cardstock and then "fussy cut" it out to
add just a little extra to the inside of the card!
Now, for the card I sent the Bride and Groom to be!
Just a slightly larger take on the same card idea!
The following card shows the dimention of the embossed
hearts and how I used foam squares to pop up the couple.

 Here's the "diamond"!

 The sentiment inside:

I wish sincere congratulations and best wishes to Cory and Kristen as they begin this
exciting year of wedding planning!
Let's see what you create with either a 3x3 or 4 x4 square card!

Vacation Scrappin'!

#29
Challenge:   Scrap your Vacation
July 23 - 29

Hello My Crafty Friends!
Today is my design team day with Cuttin' and Stampin' Challenges and our theme for this week is "Scrap Your Vacation".  I was lucky enough to have recently returned from a vacation with some extended family members to celebrate my niece's (who in our family is referred to as my "other daughter" and I am her "other mother") 30th birthday.  Yes, I know, I know...how could I ever have a niece turning 30??  I'm pretty sure she is lying about her age to make herself seem older than she is!!

Anyway- since I just had a fun beach vacation with some special family members- this challenge was perfect for me to get some photos scrapped!  (I am embarrassed to say how long it has been since I have done ANY scrapbooking!).  So let's call this layout "simple scrapping" !
Here's a look at my 2 page layout:

This is very simple Scrapping!  I used my Silhouette, my favorite cutting machine these days- to cut some cute files. Some of the files were from the Silhouette America store, others were cut files I've found on line.
Let's have a few close ups of some of the photos and die cuts:

I thought this was the perfect title for my layout!

This adorable sun and cloud was a freebie from Miss Kate's Cuttables!
Left page of the layout

I thought the beach umbrella was so cute!
Right side of layout
This is from the Silhouette Store - I used the Sketch pens for part of this
and then cut the words "Life" and "the" from paper!
LOVE using my Sketch Pens!
My sweet niece (or "other daughter") my "sister" Judy and I!
A couple of close ups of photos on the page.
Well, that wraps it up for todays post!
I hope that you will "Scrap Your Vacation" and link it up to our
Challenge Page!

Christmas In July for Cuttin' and Stampin' Challenges Week #28

#28
Challenge:   Christmas in July
July 16 - 22, 2013

Hello My Crafty Friends!
Seems like it's been a while since I posted.  I was lucky enough to get to take a short vacation with some extended family members and celebrate my niece's 30th birthday at the beach!  It was a nice, relaxing time- lots of sun and nice hot weather!
How funny that my first Design Team post takes me to Christmas in July - the total opposite of what I was thinking of when I was at the beach!

I always think it would be an amazing idea to get started on my Christmas cards in July, but never seem to be in the mood to do it!  This Team Challenge at least got me thinking about making them!
Let's take a look at what I've created for you today!

I created this happy little penguin from a cut from the Silhouette Store.  I added googly eyes to
give her a bit more character

I decided she should stay cool this summer by sitting on a mound
of snow that I just tore by hand and then glittered the edge.  I attached that to my blue embossed snowflake layer - and added in one separate snowflake with a bit of glitter.

I stamped the word "joy" in red ink to make it stand out a bit more and to tie in with her little red bow!
I pop dotted the penguin to give her a bit more interest, and the snowflake is 3 D so it has dimension as well.
Here is one more look at my finished card!

Now it's time for you to dust off your Christmas stamps or die cuts and create a Christmas project!
We'd love to have you link it up and join in our challenge this week!

For those of you who've been following my blog, I've mentioned having lost my crafty Mo-Jo of late and that my camera seemed to have some "issues".  (No,  not user error this time...there was something wrong and I am happy to say it is now repaired, but unfortunately, not before I took the photos of my card and got the card into the mail to Mary Ann! So I apologize that the photos are not very good!).
Unfortunately, my Mo Jo for creating still has not returned!  Miranda told me that Mary Ann loves flowers and loves to garden, so I created a simple and easy birthday card for her.  Let's take a look:

I decided to make a Garden Glove shaped card for her!  This file was found
in the Silhouette store and I cut it out with my Cameo.
The cuff of the glove is 2 shades of blue layered upon each other (not showing up so well in the photo)
and I inked the edges of the glove in brown to give it the look of working in the garden just a little!

I cut 2 of the flower shapes that was included in the file and layered them on top of each other with foam layering squares to give a little dimension and also curled the edges up.
I lined the inside of the card with pink cardstock and I used the Silhouette sketch pens
to write my sentiment.
I was happy that it was sturdy enough to stand up on it's own!
This view give a better view of the dimension of the flowers and the two
tones in the cuff.
Mary Ann - I hope you enjoyed this special surprise hop and that you have
a wonderful birthday!  I know you will have fun celebrating with your family!
You certainly have a very sweet daughter that arranged this hop just for you!
Happy Birthday!

Next on the list is Robin - http://cutonedesignsbyrobin.blogspot.com  so please hop on over to see what a lovely birthday surprise she has for Mary Ann!
Thank you for visiting today!
