Fall Foliage! I happen to LOVE the season of Autumn.... I love decorating my home with all the pretty fall colors and things that represent the season. About the ONLY thing I do not like about Autumn is that it brings colder weather and means that winter, my LEAST favorite season, is on the way!
Today, I created a card with the Fall Foliage Theme. Let's take a look at it and then I'll tell you a little about it!
Today, I created a card with the Fall Foliage Theme. Let's take a look at it and then I'll tell you a little about it!
My idea and design all started with this cute paper I found in my stash. It came from a stack from Cloud Nine Designs Specialty paper that I got a couple years ago! I have a "thing" about acorns - - I just think they are so cute and so "fall". When I saw this piece of paper with the leaves and the acorns, I knew I would be using it for this project!
Recently I saw someone post a card (and forgive me, I did not save a link or a name!) that featured a technique I had never heard of before. The person made a window card but then covered the window with PACKING TAPE, and then sprinkled glitter all over the sticky side of the tape. I thought it gave almost a frosted glass kind of look about it!
After deciding the size of card I wanted (4"x 5.5") I made the base of the card by welding two rectangles from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, using my Gypsy. Also with the Gypsy, I inserted an oval shape, also from Plantin Schoolbook at 1.5 inches at the area I thought I wanted the window to be.
In order to cover the visible tape that would otherwise be on the inside of my card, I cut a 2nd piece of paper and used the "flip" button so the window would be in the right place for the lining of the card.
I cut the adorable acorn from the B Is For Boy Cricut Lite Cartridge. I sized this at 1.5 inches and also cut the layer so that my acorn cap would be in a different color/ pattern. Although the patterned paper had dots on it, I also ran the cap of the acorn through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder to give it a bit more texture.
It was time to try the packing tape trick! I put the sticky side facing the front of my card. I centered the acorn in the "window" and then applied a clear, sparkly glitter. It is not showing up very well in my photo at all, but it does give a frosted glass look!
Before I adhered my inside paper layer, I added a strip of yellow dotted ribbon (really goes well with the acorn cap!) and also added 2 skinny ribbons on either side of the dotted ribbon. It looks more like a wider solid yellow ribbon layered with the polka dot ribbon, but it is actually 3 ribbons!
I then lined the inside of the card with my 2nd paper layer to cover all the "mechanics" of the card.
I wanted to add a sentiment, but the only "fall" type sentiment that would fit in the area I wanted was Happy Fall, Ya"ll from Pink By Design Stamps. I think that worked out well!
So there you have my Fall Foliage project!
Please head over to My Cricut Craftroom to see the other adorable projects that my fellow design team sisters have created for today and I will be back next week with another project!

Perfect choice for a Fall card. I agree that acorns and the beautiful foliage make fall a favorite season. What a fitting alert by mother nature that it is time to prepare for that Winter you do not like. Congratulations for the very nice return project and welcome back.
What a great idea with the glitter. This card is sooooo cute!!
