A Blog Hop Winner and A Huge Announcement!

Hello Everyone!
I sure hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
Today we are having a BLIZZARD in Dayton, Ohio!  Not one of the biggest we've ever had, but a blizzard no less! I am not a fan of cold weather, snow and ice - so this season could just pass by very quickly in my opinion!

Thank you for visiting me and leaving such kind comments for the Owl Be Home For Christmas Blog Hop organized by my sweet friend Heather at http://heathernovinger.blogspot.com.

I used Random.org to pick the winner and the Lucky Winner is:

Nadja from http://nadjarobbins.blogspot.com!!
Congrats to you Nadja!

I will be sending you a message to get your mailing address!  Please be a little patient...not only are we in the middle of a blizzard, but I have foot surgery on Friday of this week - but I will get that prize out to you just as soon as possible!
Again, thanks to all of you who visited and left a comment!

Now, my big announcement!  It's been hard to keep it under wraps...but I am now on a
BRAND NEW DESIGN TEAM!

We will introduce ourselves and get the Blog going with a
 Kick off Blog Hop
  on January 4th and 5th.
I sure hope you will take time to come and see what we are all about!
I am very excited to be working with such talented ladies.

Thanks for stopping by!

my blog and leaves a comment!

Now, On to my Project!
I created a Banner of Owls all ready for winter! These Cute Owls are hanging on the  bathroom mirror in my daughter's bathroom to welcome her home from college.
I always do something to welcome her home, usually something on her bedroom door.
The banner turned out to be too large for that, so I hung it on her mirror! I apologize, it is not easy to photograph things on mirrors without getting in the picture yourself!
To create my banner, I used MANY Cricut Cartridges.
I started by looking through all my cartridges to see how many different owls I could find and picked out my favorites!
I ended up using Storybook, Winter Frolic and Create A Critter 2 (TWO DIFFERENT OWLS FROM CAC2!!) for the owls.
My daughter's room is decorated in a green, orange and brown, so I selected colors that would blend in with her decor.
Let me "introduce" you to each owl as they were prior to adding to my banner:
(click on any image for a larger view)

"Scarfee Owl"       and                         "Party Owl"
"Emmanuel Owl"

"Lovey Owl" and "Santa Owl"

You can see, some are embossed, some have pom pom's on their hats, some have foam layering tape.

I then used the Birthday Bash Cricut Cartridge to create the two layers of my banner. This banner can be found on page
62 of the cartridge handbook.
Foam layering tape seperates the layers and adds dimension.

I felt the owls needed a little something to let them stand out from the banner background, so I cut a decorative piece from the Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge (page 45)
I layered that behind each owl.

Using gold ribbon, I threaded the ribbon through the holes in the banner and hung it up!
I apologize for the cluttered background - but you see what is reflected in the mirror as well as the banner!

You can see my cat Oliver had to be my assistant when I hung up the banner! He's eager for my daughter to get home too!

Now my banner is all ready to Welcome home my Daughter from school- and I am so excited to see her!

She'll only have ONE MORE Semester at school and then she will
GRADUATE!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Please head to my very talented friend

Jenn to see what amazing projects she has created!

Here is the wonderful line up we have for you this weekend!
