It's Scrapbook Friday at My Cricut Craftroom!!

Hello My Crafty Friends!
Welcome to Scrapbook Friday at My Cricut Craftroom. Today my assignment was to make a 2 page scrapbook layout using the papers that Erica chose for the Scrapbook Swap for the month of March. I was excited because the paper I received was by Imaginisce and the Hippity Hop line and I think it is just adorable!
It was hard to select which side of the double sided paper I wanted to use.... so I used a bit of BOTH sides!

Left side of the layout

I decided to use the cute pattern with bunnies, birds, kites, flowers, etc. on it to
use as "egg" photo mats. I cut the eggs out of the Doodlecharms cartridge.
The bunny on this side of the page comes from the cartridge Birthday Bash but instead of cutting the present as it is offered on the cartridge, I substituted a carrot. I used the flip side of the Imaginisce paper with the carrot pattern for the main part of the carrot. I cut the bird from the Birthday Bash cartridge as well.
I found a cute umbrella on the Create A Critter cartridge and it looked so much like the umbrellas in the patterend paper, so I added that to this side of the page. With the Art Philosophy cartridge, I made the banner across the top (hung from Ribbon from JoAnn's) and
the word "Happy" using stickers also from JoAnn's. I grounded the figures at the bottom with the swirl from Art Philosophy
.
I wanted to give my middle egg a bit of a "pop", so I ran it through the CuttleBug with the Swirl embossing folder and attached it to the page with 2 layers of foam dots. The other two patterened paper eggs are attached with just one layer of foam dots.
Right side of Layout
For the right page, I added another larger Doodlecharms egg to be used as a photo mat, again cut from that cute patterned paper. I cut the "open egg shell" from the Simply Charmed cartridge and layered it so it became a "pocket" to hold a mat for either a photo or some journaling. Across the bottom of the layout, I added 2 carrots, this time from the Create A Critter cartridge as well as a different little bunny, also from Create A Critter.
The banner and the swirls again were cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge.
I added ink to many of the edges and used foam dots for dimension.
I am so happy with the way the cracked egg came out!!

I hope the ladies I will be swapping my layout with will be happy with my pages!

I finally had a minute to look at your blog project and it is very cute. Clever idea to use half an egg as a pocket. I love the way you add dimension using the foam dots.
Appears other crafters like your design and execution as well.
Excellent job! Illness didn't hold you back!

This layout is nothing short of precious! It always seems such a shame to me to cover the patterned paper with pictures and I've always wondered how it changed the perception of the layout. However with the picture tag or journal tag on the second page allowing the patterned paper to stay with the half egg, I think is such a bonus. I love that carrot paper that you used for the carrots! Such a novel idea rather than just basic orange. I think you have done a fantastic job on this one, kiddo!
I am in a What Came First..scrapping or stamping blog hop today if you get time I would love for you to stop by. The list of hop participants is made so easy to use by the Inlinkz feature. There are only 13 of us but it is so much fun to see where everyone came from.
I will pass your blog onto all the girls there.. They need to see this layout! :)
